Short introduction
Reinhold Messner is the most famous mountaineer in the world. He was the first person to succeed in climbing 14 eight thousand. He also climbed Mount Everest along with Peter Habaer in 1978 without artificial oxygen. In addition to the climbing of the mountain, he continued a series of extreme increases through some of the most remote areas in the world. He was also politically active for years and, among others, moved to the European Parliament as a member of parliament
Early life
Reinhold Messner was born in South Tyrol in 1944. There he grew with eight brothers. He had his first experience with Mountaineering at the age of 5 when his father took him to the top of three thousand meters. After graduating from school, Messner studied the survey and then taught mathematics in high school for a year before devoting himself completely to the climbing of the mountain.
Career
At the beginning of his career, Messner was especially active in the dolomite, where he led more than 500 climbing tours. From 1965 he turned to climb the hard walls in the Alps before taking part in a broad expedition to Andes with Peter Habaer in 1969. There he reached some extraordinary mountain achievement, which quickly made him a climber The best mountains in the world.
From 1970 Messner began to climb the peak of eight thousand meters, the highest mountains on earth. The first mountain is a famous Nanga parbat, where a tragedy will occur. Messner and his brother Günther departed for the mountain peak, which they both were also achieved. However, only Reinhold is managed to get down again. His brother’s death triggered a legal dispute for years with Karl Herrligkffer expedition leader. In addition, Reinhold Messner lost seven toes after falling due to cold inflame.
In the following years Messner rose eight thousand meters after the others. With climbing Mount Everest along with Peter Habaer, without the help of oxygen devices, he achieved his most extraordinary success in 1978. In the mid-1980s, climbing all eight thousand developed into a race between Messer and Poland Climber Jerzy Kukuczka. With lhotse climbing on October 16, 1986, Messner managed to win this race and became the first person to climb the 14th eight-reference. After this climb, he also had to never climb the peak of eight thousand meters again.
Over the next few years, Messner focused on a number of extreme expeditions. In 1989 he crossed Antarctica on foot, covering a distance of 2,800 km. This was followed by further expedition through Greenland and Gobi Desert. At the same time, Messner is increasingly active politically. He has been committed to environmental protection in the 80s. In 1999 he entered the European Parliament for South Tyrol Vegetables as a non-party candidate for five years.
Mount Messer’s Reinhold’s career was accompanied by the spirit of its active entrepreneurship. Because at the beginning of his career he could not cover the cost of the expedition which was quite large to one of eight thousand (up to 450,000), he decided to release as many equipment as possible to save costs. His climb in an alpine style, without a large expedition wagon and oxygen bottles, revolutionized the mountain in the Himalayas. Inspired by countless experiences during his career as a mountaineer, Reinhold Messner also worked as a successful writer. He gave a lot of lectures and published more than 50 books. This is how he gets his first millions after his famous ascent in Everest in 1978.
Career highlights
In his career as a mountaineer, Reinhold Messner made many of the first assets of the peak and the walls were difficult. For him it is not only important to reach the top. He also wants to do this on the previous route unbeaten. When he climbed Nanga Parbat in 1970, for example, it went down on the wingrushed instead of taking the same path as when he rises. He is the first to cross the mountain.
Two of his personal highlights were undoubtedly climbing the first of Mount Everest without oxygen in 1978 – achievements previously considered impossible. In 1986 he was also the first person to climb all eight thousand and the second to climb seven peaks.
