Films are a depiction of our own lives. From time to time we find a little of ourselves in certain movie characters. Today, let’s talk about such Hindi movies characters that we all could relate to at some point or the other.
- Geet from Jab We Met
Jab We Met’s Geet has taught us about Self Love when it was not even trending. Remember, “Mai apni favourite hoon”? More importantly, she’s the fun-loving, carefree, bubbly girl in the first half of the film and by the second half, we see her transforming into a mature woman. Now that’s something many of us could relate to.
- Ved from Tamasha
Ved in Tamasha is all of us, who have killed our dreams under parental pressure and are now working in corporate jobs that kill our souls. While some find their way out of it on their own, some are still waiting for their Tara to come and rescue them.
- Shashi from English Vinglish
Every Indian mother could relate to Shashi as a majority of them are undervalued, undermined and taken for granted, just like Shashi from English Vinglish. Her journey and transformation into the confident woman at the end of the film is truly inspiring for many middle-aged women out there.
- Champak from Angrezi Medium
Several Indian fathers, especially single fathers could relate to Champak’s character from Angrezi Medium. A father who disapproves of his daughter’s dreams initially, going to extreme lengths to turn her dream into a reality is one quality most fathers have in common, just like Champak.
- Naina from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Naina’s transformation from a wallflower to the badass queen she becomes by the end of her Manali trip is all the inspiration any introvert needs. Many of us could relate to our moms asking us to focus on our studies/jobs while our heart wants to just get out and travel.
- Farhan from 3 Idiots
Farhan’s “Pappa nahi maangenge” is something we all must have said at some point in time. Being a sacrificing child who’s afraid to stand up for himself and then because of Rancho actually going out and living his dreams is what makes Farhan so relatable.
- Veronica from Cocktail
Just like Veronica from Cocktail, we’ve all been there when we’ve liked a guy and gotten our hearts broken because the guy ends up being interested in our best friend. Her raw emotions and bold portrayal of her truth make Veronica all the more relatable.
- Bittoo from Band Baaja Baaraat
You know the “Vella” guy who doesn’t know what to do after college, who’s just interested in getting by life without doing much, that’s Bittoo. And if Bittoo can become successful at what he does, I’m pretty sure we all can.
- Kiara from Dear Zindagi
Normalizing mental health in India wasn’t easy, but Kiara did it anyway. Numerous people related to her problems, understood them, and also learnt a lot from Kiara’s journey throughout the film.
- Abhimanyu from Meri Pyaari Bindu
One-sided love was never portrayed so beautifully before Abhimanyu. The way he selflessly supports Bindu and despite getting dumped doesn’t speak ill about her is both relatable and inspiring.
