In the middle of a heat wave that broke the record in the UK, around 125 firefighters and 25 fire engines were called to extinguish large fires at the top of the tower block in East London.
Videos and photos shared online about fires show smoke rising from a four -room apartment on the 17th floor. There were no reports of injuries and London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that the fire was now under control.
In a statement, the commander of Keith Sanders Station, who was at the scene, said, “The crew arrived to find a flat upper floor, which produced thick smoke. They were also confronted with grass fires in the area across the block.”
“The crew works very hard to control the fire and smoke now subside,” he added.
Furthermore, Mr. Sanders told me that firefighters used a 32 meter turnable ladder at the scene to provide air views about the incident and help officers develop tactics to control the fire. He also said that the cause of the flames was still under investigation.
Speaking to the BBC, a man who lives a few meters from a high -rise building illustrates the scene as “real hell”.
Meanwhile, this happened after a large incident was declared in London on Tuesday as a series of forest fires to add pressure to the Fire Department. London Fire Brigade said that they had deployed dozens of fire engines to several fires in and around the city.
The heat that broke the record also caused the cancellation of training in this country. Videos and photos from all countries appear online, which show damage to the recording temperature caused. While one video shows the houses in a village outside the east of London which is damaged by large fires, the other shows the forest burned on the side of the highway.
